About Us
Take Me Home Vintage is a family run business based next to the West Somerset coast and the wilds of Exmoor. We have a love for antique furniture and beautiful design whether it be mid-century, art deco or older. It's exciting to search high and low for both unusual and iconic pieces, particularly retro styles which translate so well into the modern home.
It’s a real pleasure to bring life back into an old piece of furniture and find it a new home, but generally we do not upcycle or completely refurbish the furniture that we sell. We prefer to keep our pieces in their original form and leave it up to our customers to adapt a piece to their home. This also enables us to keep our prices affordable.
Our Goal
We would like to make stylish vintage furniture affordable and accessible to everyone that wants to make their home individual, and offer another option to the mass-produced furniture that is often the first port of call when furnishing a home.
Before you 'take me home'
All the furniture we sell has gone through a process of deep cleaning and where necessary repair. It’s surprising how good the quality and condition is of most of the furniture we sell and a reaffirmation of how well the post war generation looked after their belongings. Any imperfections in the furniture are detailed in the descriptions and with photographs so you can make an informed decision. We don’t sell anything that we wouldn’t have on display in our own home. Sustainability
Re-using and recycling has never been as important as it is today. Most of the furniture that we sell was originally made in the UK. This is rarely the case with new furniture, and it’s rarely built to last. Much of the furniture that we buy, and sell has been cherished and loved for a few generations. It comes from a time when people saw furniture as a long-term investment. It’s rewarding to see the furniture rehomed and given the chance to survive a couple more generations. In Britain alone we throw out an astonishing 22 million pieces of furniture each year. Buying vintage goes a little way towards redressing this and of course fashion is cyclical so many current styles replicate the styles and looks of the past, particularly those of the mid-century.
Buying vintage is an investment. The early twentieth century in particular, is the last period where most furniture that people bought was made in the UK or Europe, was not majorly mass produced and was made by a vast range of manufacturers. As time goes by there will be less items like this in circulation and they will become even more sought after and valuable.

Pricing
It’s important to us to provide beautiful, affordable pieces of furniture. If you are going to look at something every day it needs to be special, but it doesn’t need to cost thousands of pounds. Our favourite pieces are usually the unbranded ones that we’ve never seen before. We can keep our prices low because we are a small operation with low overheads. We work from a workshop in a rural part of the UK. We do not have to cover the overheads of a bricks and mortar shop in a big town.
Our favourite part of this process is sourcing and buying new things so we can’t keep furniture for too long or we quickly run out of storage. Please see our sale items for a bargain.
